Quests, token leaderboards, and a skills marketplace: The elite AI adoption playbook | John Kim (Sendbird)

John Kim is the co-founder and CEO of Delight.ai, a customer experience platform that's transforming how companies deploy AI. He has turned his entire company into an AI-native organization, where employees are encouraged to build their own tools using AI technology. The marketing team built a fully functional e-commerce swag store with Stripe integration in just two days, while the sales team created their own CRM tools. This is all tracked and measured through an internal platform called Automators.

Automators is an internal marketplace where anyone can request AI tools, and engineers or AI agents can build them. The platform uses a quest system to encourage employees to learn and use new skills. Sendbird also built a token usage dashboard with five tiers, from beginner to "AI God," to track the smoothness of the curve rather than just total usage.

John Kim believes that visible leadership usage is the most powerful adoption signal for AI in a company. He uses AI for his own learning and has implemented an AI Engineer for Internal Operations role to help employees build their own tools. Sendbird rewrote job descriptions to prioritize curiosity, agency, and energy over years of experience, encouraging employees to think creatively and use AI to solve problems.
